This issue assistant manager Kate Musanovic and manager Stephanie Mahon review a leave-in hair conditioner, hand sanitiser, bread mix, stain remover and protein powder

1. LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

Stephanie says: “I have curly hair, which has a tendency to do its own thing and the ends can get quite dry. Moo Goo Protein Shot Leave-In Conditioner is made from all natural ingredients and contains no sulphates, silicone or parabens. It really hydrates my hair without leaving any heaviness.”

2. BREAD MIX

Kate says: “Caveman Grub Super-Clean Paleo Bread Mix is a very tasty bread mix. It is low carb and made without any gluten, grains or dairy. It is very easy to make – just mix with eggs and water and bake for 50 minutes. I love it with soups or just as an open sandwich.”

3. ANTI-INFLAMMATORY

Stephanie says: “I find ZinCuFlex, as part of an overall regime, helps me to keep some control on pain and inflammation. The curcumin and ginger are both easy to digest. Many studies have been carried out on curcumin and ginger which show their ability to help control inflammation and pain. If I stop taking this, I miss it – which proves to me that it is working.”

4. STAIN REMOVER

Kate says: “Sometimes whites can go a little grey and yeuch after a few washes – especially my snow-white towels. Sonett Bleach Complex and Stain Remover is fully bio-degradable and easy to use. Soak stubborn laundry overnight and then wash or add 2 scoops to the detergent compartment in your normal wash.”

5. HAND SANITISER

Stephanie says: “We keep a bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Organic Hand Sanitiser behind the counter for hygiene purposes – for which it works extremely well. However, I have found a whole new use for it! When I was bitten by a number of midges I was desperately trying to control the itching with anything with lavender in it. This works like a dream!”

6. PROTEIN POWDER

Kate says: “Plantforce Synergy Protein is tasty and easily dissolved. Some vegan protein powders can be gritty, even when blended. This one is plant based and has no artificial sweeteners, colours or flavours. I have it every day as a morning shake with berries and oils. Vanilla is my favourite.”

7. CLEANSING OIL

Stephanie says: “I absolutely love Kinvara Absolute Cleansing Oil. It is vegan, contains all natural plant ingredients, is cruelty free and Irish! It dissolves make-up easily, removing mascara without any difficulty. It leaves your skin feeling wonderfully clean, soft and nourished and it also smells amazing.”

This issue retail assistants Helen McGill, Lisa Connaughton and Mariana Bivol review a fish oil, natural hair colour, bamboo underwear and turmeric tea

1. BAMBOO UNDERWEAR

Helen says: “Boody Organic Bamboo Ecowear is a range of underwear that is silky soft, stretchy and hypo-allergenic. The soft breathable fabric keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.”

2. NATURAL HAIR COLOUR

Lisa says: “I love Naturtint hair colours – they are 100% free from ammonia, parabens, SLS and paraffin. They are very gentle on my scalp and leave my hair feeling shiny and looking healthy and glossy, with great grey coverage too.”

3. NATURAL SOAP BAR

Majella says: “I love to use the amazing natural soaps from a local company called Palm Free Irish Soaps. They smell divine and come in a wide array of pretty colours and scents. They are kind to the skin and the planet.”

4. FISH OIL

Mariana says: “Wiley’s Finest Wild Alaskan Fish Oil is a very clean oil. It contains omega 7 which is great for skin, mucous membranes and eye health as well as vitamin A, astaxanthin and carotenoids. It’s the easiest fish oil liquid to swallow and has a great fresh orange flavour.”

5. SKIN SUPPORT

Helen says: “Solgar Astaxanthin is my favourite product to get my skin summer ready. This carotenoid is antioxidant-rich and typically 10 times more potent than other carotenoids. It has been shown to provide protection against UV light exposure.”

6. TURMERIC TEA

Lisa says: “Pukka Turmeric Active herbal tea contains a blend of organic turmeric, ginger and galangal. It is beneficial for any inflammation in the body. I love to have a cup daily and when my stomach feels like it needs a bit of TLC it really settles it.”

7. JOINT SUPPORT

Mariana says: “Solgar Collagen Hyaluronic Acid Complex contains considerable amounts of hyaluronic acid, collagen, chondroitin and vitamin C – all beneficial for the repair and protection of the joint tissue. Also being a woman in my 40s I admit I love this product because it helps with anti-ageing.”
