Many Rude Health readers recently took the opportunity to recommend their Favourite Health Store Staff Member for the Pat Curran Award for Excellence in Customer Service for 2020. The overall winner Marion Moffatt who works at health store Nuts & Grains in Mullingar, Co Westmeath won a €500 cash prize and the store received €500 to give to a charity of their choice.

“I am beyond chuffed,” says Marion, “I’m glad we’ve managed to keep our customers happy and keep up good levels of customer service during a challenging year. I’m delighted they are happy with what we are doing here.”

Here’s what one reader said about Nuts & Grains: “I have been going to Nuts & Grains health store ever since I moved to Mullingar many years ago. It’s like entering Aladdin’s Cave with so many great items to choose from. Marion is always there with a smile and her helpful advice is always so welcoming.”

Rude Health readers who voted for their favourite store assistant were entered into a draw to win a €300 hotel break gift card from irelandhotels.com and a big hamper full of Eskimo-3 goodies. The winner of this fabulous prize is Marge Cavanagh from Co Westmeath.

About the Pat Curran Award for Excellence in Customer Service

Pat Curran was a real hero of the Irish natural health world and many were truly saddened at his passing in 2014. Pat, along with his wife Phil set up PPC Ltd, which distributes the well-known Irish brand Eskimo-3 omega-3 oils, over 20 years ago and was well liked by customers and colleagues alike. Pat was incredibly passionate about customer service and treating people with respect. He had that personal touch and always remembered to enquire about a birthday, a son/daughter away at college or a sick relative. He was a man of integrity, kindness and generosity who always put the needs of others before his own.

In order to celebrate Pat's life and acknowledge the rich legacy he has left behind, PPC and Pat's family - wife Phil, daughters Olive and Hazel and son-in-law Michael - launched the Pat Curran Award for Excellence in Customer Service.

The member of staff who is the overall winner will receive a €500 cash prize and their store will also receive €500 which they can give to a charity of their choice. The objective of this worthwhile award is to celebrate excellence in independent health food shops throughout Ireland.
