The Pantry in Kenmare, Co Kerry

This issue, owner-manager Rochelle Doyle tests out her favourite health products.

Liquid magnesium drops
Oriel Magnesium liquid drops are a continuous favourite with both my staff and customers. It’s a very easy-to-take form of magnesium, absorbed directly into your cells in under 30 minutes with 100% absorption. We add it to our drinking water every day. It contains over 78 deep-sea minerals that add much-needed electrolytes, boost hydration and recovery, and aid sleep and restless legs. It’s Irish also!

Aronia juice
We are massive fans of PhyterBerry Aronia Juice here in The Pantry. These berries deliver a dense concentration of polyphenols, providing powerful antioxidant protection to help regulate blood sugar, support beneficial gut microbiome bacteria, and aid in post-exercise metabolic recovery. Aronia also acts as a targeted natural switch to lower overactive, joint-damaging pathways. I personally see the difference when taking it.

Liposomal quercetin
Another product we love here is Somega Quercetin. This product has never failed to make a difference with my customers. We have so much confidence in its ability to do what it promises. We have new and repeat customers every year taking it for allergies, sinus pressure and inflammation. It tastes great and is easy for adults and children to digest in tiny, lipid, citrus-flavoured liquid bubbles!

Digestive enzymes
NaturesPlus Ultra-Zyme is one of our best sellers for a reason. It rapidly relieves heavy, uncomfortable bloating after meals, smoothing out digestion and acid reflux. So many customers come in with complaints about bloating and acid reflux after eating. Ultra-Zyme contains a robust mix of enzymes, ox bile and stomach acid support that helps break down proteins, fats, carbohydrates and dairy. Acti-Zyme is the plant-based alternative.

Help for bloating
Dr Wolz Probiocolon Ultra Strength gives the gut the physical building blocks (B vitamins) to repair itself. The 22-strain, acid-resistant, targeted release allows the 120 billion probiotic strains to colonise effectively. Customers have noticed a dramatic decrease in painful bloating, paired with a noticeable lift in systemic energy after periods of illness or antibiotics.

Liposomal iron
Many customers who previously struggled with standard iron supplements have reported excellent results with Vitamunda Liposomal Iron Formula. The advantages of this iron formula are twofold: first, the iron is much better absorbed in the cells, and another big advantage is that being enclosed in the fatty liposome balls means the iron doesn’t affect the stomach or intestinal tract.

The Aloe Tree in Ennistymon, Co Clare

Here, owner-manager Tessa Badenhorst, plus staff members Ruth Roycroft, Marianne Conneally and Sophie DeVere review their favourite products.

Luxurious body oil
Marianne says: “The first word that comes to mind when trying to describe Dublin Herbalists’ body oil is luxurious. It is scented with lavender, frankincense and juniper essential oils, which create a fresh woody smell when applying. It is extremely moisturising and leaves my skin so smooth. I find that many body oils are heavy and do not dry into my skin quickly, but the Dublin Herbalists’ body oil is fast-absorbing, so it’s amazing when I’m in a rush.”

Wild yam cream
Tessa says: “Ipera Wild Yam Chamomile Cream is such a beautiful product to use and great to have an alternative to a capsule for the menopause. We’ve had instant results among staff and customers. Also love that it’s made in County Clare by the lovely Dani.”

Authentic live kefir
Tessa says: “It’s such a great asset to have access to an authentic live kefir such as Kerry Kefir, which is made by Mary Thea. When it comes with a champagne opening warning you know it’s going to have the maximum benefits and a good bacteria count. We have had amazing customer results with sorting out digestive issues.”

An everyday luxury
Sophie says: “The Niyok Flowers Natural Deodorant is my favourite pick in the shop because it’s such a simple little everyday luxury. It has a gorgeous, soft, floral scent and feels really fresh. I love that it’s aluminium-free and made with organic coconut oil, and it’s a great option if you’re looking for something natural for your daily routine. It holds up from day to night, workouts and adventures. The deodorant smells lovely, feels gentle and is an aesthetically pleasing product to have in your bathroom.”

Tulsi tea
Tessa says: “Ministry of Tea Tulsi Wonder Tea is a new all-time favourite. I may have an addiction issue! I find it very grounding and a good, strong, satisfying flavour even after a second infusion with the teabag.”

Spices for vitality
Ruth says: “I love The Hare & The Moon Apothecary’s Vitality Support Spice Mix because it escalates your daily cacao experience to another level. It has reishi, lion’s mane, maca, ashwagandha, and a beautiful mixture of spices; it grounds you and gives a wonderful sense of warmth at the same time. Made in East Clare by Danú.”
